Terms of Service
Last updated
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (the “terms”) are an agreement between you and ClipCheap (“we”, “us” or “our”), a business registered in Singapore with its registered address at UClub LaunchPad @ one-north, Singapore. They apply when you use ClipCheap: our website at clipcheap.app, the ClipCheap studio, and related services (together, the “service”).
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to ourAcceptable Use Policy, Refund Policy andCopyright Policy, which form part of them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
If you use ClipCheap for a company or another organization, you accept these terms on its behalf and confirm that you have the authority to do so. “You” then also means that organization.
2. Who can use ClipCheap
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be able to enter into a binding contract, and the laws that apply to you, including sanctions laws, must not bar you from using the service.
- If we have closed your account for breaking these terms, don’t open a new one without our permission.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up, including an email address you can access, and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password safe and don’t share your sign-in details. Each person needs their own account: invite teammates to your workspace instead.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone has used it without permission, tell us right away at support@clipcheap.app.
4. Workspaces and teams
Your work lives in a workspace. When you sign up, we create one for you and make you its owner. You can belong to several workspaces and switch between them. Each member has one of these roles:
- Owner: manages the plan and billing, can rename or delete the workspace, and can hand ownership to another member. Every workspace has exactly one owner.
- Admin: invites and removes members, changes their roles, and connects publishing accounts.
- Editor: adds videos, edits and re-renders clips, and schedules posts.
- Viewer: views, previews and downloads, but can’t change anything.
The owner is responsible for the workspace: its members and how they use it, its connected accounts, and its billing. Projects, clips and posts belong to the workspace rather than to the member who made them, so they stay in the workspace if that member leaves or is removed. Each plan includes a set number of seats.
5. The service
ClipCheap turns long videos into short clips. You upload a video file or paste a link to a public YouTube video. Our systems, including AI models, transcribe the audio, suggest highlights, and render captioned clips that you can review, edit, download and publish to nine social apps.
We keep improving ClipCheap, so features change. We may add, change or remove features, and we will give you reasonable notice before we remove a major paid feature. Features marked as beta or early access may be less reliable and may change or end.
We work to keep the service available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, upgrades or reasons outside our control. Some videos can’t be processed, for example because of their format, length, content or access restrictions.
6. Plans, billing and cancellation
Plans
ClipCheap offers the Free, Creator, Pro, and Business plans. Each plan’s price, features and limits are on ourpricing page. Paid plans are billed monthly in US dollars.
Payments through Polar
Paid plans are sold through Polar, which acts as our merchant of record. Polar runs checkout, takes payment, calculates and collects sales tax, VAT or GST where it applies, and issues your invoices and receipts. Polar’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to your purchase. We never see your full card details.
Renewal
Paid plans renew automatically each month, and Polar charges your payment method at the start of each billing period until you cancel.
Cancellation
The workspace owner can cancel at any time from the billing portal in the studio (Settings, then Plan & billing). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: your paid features stay on until then, you aren’t charged again, and the workspace then moves to the Free plan. We don’t refund the rest of a period, except as ourRefund Policy describes.
Changing plans
The owner can upgrade or downgrade in the billing portal. Polar works out any price difference for the current period under its billing rules, and the new plan’s limits apply once the change is confirmed. If you move to a plan with fewer seats or lower limits, you may need to remove members or reduce your usage to fit it.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, Polar may try again, and we may remind you to update your payment method. If the payment still can’t be collected, your subscription may end and the workspace moves to the Free plan.
Price changes
We may change our prices. We will email you at least 30 days before a price increase applies to your subscription, and it takes effect from your first billing period after that notice. If you don’t accept it, cancel before then.
Taxes
Prices on our pricing page don’t include taxes. Polar adds any tax that applies where you are at checkout.
The Free plan
The Free plan costs nothing and needs no payment details. It has lower limits, exports at up to720p, and adds a small ClipCheap watermark to exports. We may change the Free plan’s features and limits, or stop offering it, with reasonable notice.
7. Usage limits and fair use
Every plan has limits. They apply to the whole workspace and are shown on the pricing page and in the studio. They cover:
- video minutes per month;
- the longest video you can process;
- clips per video, and the longest clip;
- seats;
- upload size;
- AI caption requests per month;
- re-renders per month, and how many can run at once;
- how long source files are kept; and
- export resolution and watermark.
Video minutes count the length of each video you process, rounded up per video, however many clips you make from it. A job reserves its minutes when it starts, and the minutes are released if the job fails or you cancel it. Re-rendering a clip in the editor uses no video minutes but counts toward your monthly re-renders.
Monthly allowances reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC). Unused allowance doesn’t carry over and has no cash value.
To keep ClipCheap fast and fair for everyone, we may queue, slow down or decline jobs that go beyond your plan, that arrive in unusual volumes, or that could harm the service or other users. The studio tells you when a limit is holding you back.
8. Your content
“Your content” means the videos you upload or link to, and everything made from them in ClipCheap: audio, transcripts, highlight picks, captions, titles, hashtags, clips and posts.
- You keep your rights. As between you and us, you (or whoever gave you permission) own your content. We don’t claim ownership of it, including the clips and other output made from your videos.
- The license you give us. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, convert, transcribe, analyze, edit, render, display and transmit your content, only as needed to provide, secure and support the service for you. This includes sharing it with our service providers and with the services you choose to publish through. The license ends when your content is deleted from our systems, apart from backup copies kept for a limited time and anything the law requires us to keep.
- No training, no selling. We don’t use your content to train AI models, and we don’t sell it.
- When we look at it. We look at your content only to give you support you ask for, to keep the service secure, to investigate a report or a suspected breach of these terms, or when the law requires it.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for your content and for what you do with it, including everything you publish.
9. Rights to the videos you use
Only process videos that you own, or that you have permission to use this way. Each time you add a video, you confirm that:
- you own the video, or you have every license and permission needed to copy, process and edit it and to publish clips from it;
- you have any consent the law requires from people who can be seen or heard in it; and
- processing it and publishing clips from it won’t infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights, or break any law or agreement.
YouTube links. Pasting a link gives neither you nor us any rights in the video. Only submit a YouTube video that is yours or that its owner has allowed you to reuse, and follow YouTube’s Terms of Service when you do. We process public, non-live videos only. We don’t get around DRM, sign-ins, paywalls, age gates, regional blocks or any other access control, and you must not use ClipCheap to try.
We may ask you to show that you have the rights you need, and we may refuse to process content, or remove it, if you can’t.
10. AI features
ClipCheap uses AI models from third-party providers to transcribe audio, pick highlights, and draft titles, hooks, captions and hashtags. The models we use may change over time.
- AI can be wrong. Transcripts, captions, highlight picks, titles and other output can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of context or unsuitable. Review and correct everything before you publish it.
- Scores are editorial. A highlight score is an editorial read of a moment’s opening, clarity, emotion and payoff. It is not a prediction of views, reach, engagement or virality, and we don’t promise any result.
- Output may not be unique. Other users may get similar titles, captions or hashtags, and some AI output may not be protected by copyright.
- You decide. AI suggestions never publish anything on their own. You choose what to keep, edit and post, and you are responsible for it.
11. Publishing and third-party services
You can publish clips to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest, and Bluesky: automatically, through a Buffer account you connect, or yourself, with a ready-made post kit.
- Nothing posts unless you schedule it. A post goes out only when you, or a member of your workspace who is allowed to, schedules it or chooses to post it now.
- Buffer is optional. Automatic posting needs a Buffer account, and Buffer’s own terms and privacy policy apply to it. When a workspace owner or admin connects Buffer, they allow us to read the workspace’s Buffer organizations, channels and queued posts, and to create, update and delete the posts the workspace schedules through ClipCheap. We store the connection’s credentials encrypted. You can disconnect at any time in Settings, then Publishing. Posts already in Buffer stay there.
- Video links. To publish a clip, we give Buffer a signed link to the video file that expires. Buffer and the destination app use it to fetch the video. Anyone who has the link can watch that clip until the link expires or the post is deleted.
- Each app’s rules. Follow the terms, community guidelines and automation rules of Buffer and of every app you publish to. They can reject, remove, limit or delay posts and suspend accounts, and they may change or end features we rely on.
- Third parties aren’t ours. We don’t control Buffer, YouTube or the social apps, and we aren’t responsible for their services, content or decisions. Posts can fail or be delayed for reasons outside our control. The studio shows the status of each post.
ClipCheap isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Buffer or any of the apps it publishes to.
12. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: don’t use ClipCheap for illegal, harmful, infringing, deceptive or abusive content or behavior, don’t try to get around plan limits or security, and don’t interfere with the service or other people who use it.
13. Copyright complaints
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement as our Copyright Policydescribes, and we close the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
14. Our intellectual property
The service, including its software, design, text and graphics and the ClipCheap name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms give you no rights in it except a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service under these terms.
Don’t use our name, logo or brand in a way that suggests we endorse or partner with you, unless we agree in writing. Don’t remove, crop or hide the watermark the Free plan adds to exports.
15. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or other feedback, we may use it freely, without paying or crediting you. You don’t have to send feedback, and we don’t have to use it.
16. Suspension and termination
By you. You can stop using ClipCheap at any time. The workspace owner can cancel a paid plan, and you can delete your account in Settings.
By us. We may limit or suspend your access, remove content, or close your account if:
- you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- the law, a court order or an authority requires it;
- your use puts the security of the service at risk, or could harm other users or third parties; or
- you don’t pay an amount that is due, or a payment is reversed.
Where it’s reasonable and lawful, we will tell you first, explain why, and give you a chance to fix the problem and to download your clips. We may act without notice when there is a serious risk or a legal reason. If you think we made a mistake, reply to our message or write to legal@clipcheap.app.
Afterwards. When your account closes, your access ends and your content is deleted as described inData retention and deletion. Terms that are meant to last, such as amounts owed, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and disputes, continue to apply.
17. Data retention and deletion
- Source files. We keep each original video, its audio and its full transcript for your plan’s source retention period (7 days on Free and 30 days on Creator, Pro, and Business) so you can keep editing, and then delete them. Existing clips stay available, but the editor can no longer re-render clips from that video.
- Clips. Clips, their captions and their details stay until you delete the project or your account. When you re-render a clip, versions older than the newest three may be removed unless a scheduled post still needs them.
- Deleting. Deleting a project deletes its videos and clips. To delete your account in Settings, first transfer any workspace other members still use and cancel any paid plan. Deleting your account deletes the workspaces you own and everything in them.
- Export. You can download your clips at any time and export your account data as a file from Settings.
- Backups and records. Deleted data may remain in our database backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten. We keep some records, such as billing and security records, for longer where the law requires it or to protect the service.
Download anything you want to keep before you delete it: deleted content can’t be recovered. OurPrivacy Policy lists how long we keep each kind of data.
18. Disclaimers
We provide ClipCheap “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties and conditions, express or implied, including those of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
In particular, we don’t promise that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors; that every video can be processed; that AI output will be accurate or suitable; that third-party services will accept or publish your posts; or that your clips will earn any number of views, followers or sales.
If you are a consumer, you keep any rights the law gives you that can’t be excluded.
19. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, audience or data, however it arises; and
- our total liability for all claims relating to the service or these terms is limited to the greater of US$100 and the amount paid for your use of the service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the applicable law doesn’t allow us to limit or exclude, including your rights as a consumer.
20. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless us and our officers, employees and contractors against claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, your breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or your violation of any law or anyone’s rights. We will tell you promptly about any such claim, and we may take part in the defense with lawyers of our own. If you are a consumer, this section applies only as far as the law allows.
21. Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising from them or from the service, including non-contractual ones, are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Most problems are solved fastest by talking to us. Before you start formal proceedings, emaillegal@clipcheap.app with a description of the problem, and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
If we can’t resolve it, the courts of Singapore, including the Small Claims Tribunals where a claim qualifies, have exclusive jurisdiction. Either of us may still ask any competent court for urgent interim relief.
If you are a consumer living outside Singapore, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
22. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as ClipCheap changes or as the law requires. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. For a material change, we will tell you by email or in the studio at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless it must apply sooner for legal or security reasons or only covers new features.
If you keep using ClipCheap after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don’t agree, stop using the service and cancel any paid plan before then.
23. General terms
- Whole agreement. These terms and the policies they refer to are the whole agreement between you and us about the service, and they replace any earlier ones.
- Transfer. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, or to an affiliate, and we will tell you if we do.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t given it up.
- Events outside our control. We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at our providers, network failures, natural disasters or government action.
- Third parties. No one other than you and us can enforce these terms, including under Singapore’s Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001.
- Relationship. These terms don’t create a partnership, employment, agency or joint venture between you and us.
- Language. These terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version applies.
24. Notices and contact
